Two dopers still listed in WMA world outdoor results nearly 2 years later
we learned that M50 high jumper Oleg Kramar of Ukraine had failed a doping test at the Eurovets Ancona indoor meet in April 2016. So he was handed a 4-year ban. Recently, WMA corrected results from 2017 Daegu indoor worlds, where Oleg’s name went from second to DQ. So you’d expect results from Ancona and 2016 Perth outdoor worlds to change as well. (Oleg won silvers at Ancona and Perth.) But nope. Results still show him untouched. I’m unsure if medals have been redistributed. Same for suspended M55 Perth world champion Volodymyr Shelever of Australia. His name still appears in world outdoor results. On facebook, M55 American Tom Foley showed off his silver — moving up from Perth bronze. “Nearly 18 months after the competition, World Masters Athletics finally made things right and sent me my silver medal,” Tom wrote. “Congrats as well to my jumping brothers Neal Bredeveldt of South Africa, now gold medalist, and Lauri Lindberg of Finland, now bronze medalist.” So when will WMA and EMA fix the fake results?
In late December,
Congrats to Tom and the others for your fine performances. Glad you got your well-earned medal.
Congrats Tom. I have not received any notification from WMA, but I do expect two bronze medals sometime in the next year.
Considering Greg Pizza’s marks are still listed in the 2015 outdoor championship results on their website, USATF needs to clean up its fake results too.
I got an email from the WMA’s Winston Thomas today that said that have been upgraded to bronze in Perth and the medals from Perth is on the way. Still no medal from Daegu yet.
Well done Tom! I only just read this article. Justice prevailed as we both jumped to our full potential.
