With 443 entrants, Team USA will send the fourth-largest national contingent to Malaga worlds in September — after host Spain (1,792), UK (704) and Germany (611). According to WMA, the all-comers meet also known at the World Masters Athletics Championships – Stadia will have almost 8,200 athletes. Yowza. Already we’re hearing worries about field events: How will so many people with so many tries get to finish before Christmas?

British Olympian and masters WR man Roald Bradstock, a last-minute entry for UK — although he lives in Florida and threw in the U.S. Olympic Trials (duel citizenship) — wrote on Facebook: “World Record on tap for 2018 World Master Championship! ‘Most number of javelin throwers to throw in the same competition.’ 317 male javelin throwers are now registered…. By my calculations, that’s over 1200 competition throws and over 600 warmup throws — assuming two warm throws per athlete. That’s more than 1800 javelin throws! Using one run up for the competition will mean there will be 48 hours of nonstop throwing — day and night and day and night! How is this possible?”

Here’s a note that went out Friday to Team USATF Members:

Congratulations on being part of Team USATF for the WMA Championships in Malaga, Spain! We celebrate your accomplishments and look forward to working with you.

The National Team kit is earned by the very best in the United States who are competing at the international level. If you are competing in Spokane at the 2018 USATF Masters Outdoor Championships, your competition kit will be available for pick up on-site in after showing a valid form of identification and possess proof that you will be traveling to Malaga to compete at the 2018 World Masters Championships.

This includes either a non-refundable plane ticket, hotel reservation, etc. You will also be required to agree to the Terms and Conditions of the uniform, attached. There is no option for purchase. This follows standard team processing procedures and protects the integrity of the hard-earned Team USATF kit.

Quantities will be based on the orders you have submitted. In an attempt to outfit everyone in the size and style in which they prefer to compete, we ask that you please fill out your form as accurately and as quickly as possible. We will have extremely limited quantities to exchange, so accurate sizing information is critical. Please click on the applicable link below to fill out your sizes.

A completed form is due by July 16th, 2018 at 11:59 pm ET. If you fail to complete this form within the deadline, you will run the risk of not receiving a uniform or not receiving the desired sizes.

Team USATF will have an incredible representation at the WMA Championship in Malaga at nearly 450 athletes. Because of the size of this National Team (compared to the 2016 Olympic Team – 128 athletes, and the 2017 World Championship Team – 132 athletes), sizes/styles for uniforms are extremely limited.

Once an athlete receives a Team USATF Kit they will be responsible for using it for all world championship/regional championship teams that they compete on in this Olympiad (through 2020).

There will be NO option for replacement or purchase, no exceptions. If you have already received a kit for a World or Regional Championship, there is no option for replacement or purchase.

The Masters Track & Field Committee, Masters LDR Committee, and National Office are excited to be able to offer on-site processing for athletes attending this year’s Masters Outdoor Championship. Team USATF will be in the Reese Room, July 26-28, (Thursday-Saturday) from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. for on-site pickup at the 2018 USATF Masters Outdoor Championships in Spokane.

The Reese Room is located on the bottom floor of the Pavilion “Reese Court.” Athletes will be able to access the room by taking a staircase down from registration, which is located on the top floor of the pavilion.

If you are not planning to attend the 2018 USATF Masters Track and Field Championships in Spokane, please e-mail to make secondary arrangements. Team kits will not be available prior to the Masters Outdoor Championships in Spokane.

We are thrilled to have you represent Team USATF in Malaga and look forward to seeing all of your success on and off the track! For any questions, please e-mail

  1. The uniform links are only for athletes that are going to Malaga, BUT did not get a uniform in Toronto, so please don’t click on them if you are not in that specific group.
